SIMMS' Serial Number Tracking feature manages a limitless combination of serial numbers from the time they
are received into inventory, through the time they are issued, and retains an historical record permanently. This
enables inventory control personnel access to a wealth of historical and validation information.
With SIMMS, each single item—from the tiniest pin to the largest kit (BOM) in your stock—can bear two distinct serial numbers at the same time. Here is a summary of the features available:
- Automatically generate serial numbers (and/or "user" serial numbers) with ease
- Assign serial numbers to items during (or immediately following) the receipt of goods

Detailed below is a high level overview of some of the features available:
Receiving Goods
When you receive items into inventory that are marked as using serial numbers you are presented with a grid where
you can scan or key in the serial numbers

With all items that you have specified use serial numbers you can allocate two serial numbers. You can also
get SIMMS to generate serial numbers for you automatically and use SIMMS inbuillt barcoding functionality
to print the labels.
Selling Goods
When you sell an item that is marked as using serial numbers you select the serial numbers available from the
system simply by ticking the serial number that has been issued

Service and Returns
SIMMS also has a fully featured service and returns modules. When you are doing a Return Merchandise
Authorisation (RMA) you can just scan or enter the serial number and the system will show you who the item was sold to

Tracability
With the SIMMS item trace report all you have to do is enter the serial number and you can get the complete history of an item
