Cabling Services
For effective and efficient use of network computers and devices, a standards-based infrastructure is needed. Having a data cabling infrastructure that is installed to and uses components that meet industry standards ensures fewer outages and performance problems in the future. Proper installation of communications cabling is crucial. Invotec ensures that data, voice and AV cabling meets or exceeds your requirements and industry standards, and minimizes costs both today and tomorrow.
Points to note:
- Communications cabling work must be done by a registered cabler. When choosing a cabler, you should ask to see proof of registration.
- If the cabler is registered, he or she will have a telecommunications cabling registration card.
- You can verify that your cabler is registered by checking the registers on the websites of registrars accredited by the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA).
- A registered cabler must follow rules set out by ACMA. The rules make sure the cabling is done safely and that the cabler has the skills to do the job.
- Cabling that is installed incorrectly can result in your phones, faxes and internet or alarm systems not working properly. Faulty cabling can also increase the risk of safety hazards such as electrocution.
- Your registered cabler must provide you with a signed form at the end of the job that states that the work meets all the relevant standards. This is sometimes incorporated into your cabler's invoice.
- A registered cabler must install data cabling for computer networks that connect to the telecommunications network.
- A registered cabler can install or repair all communications cabling in your home or workplace.
- If you're renovating your home or office, a registered cabler can rewire the communications cabling or add extra phone sockets.

Test and Tag
Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) legislation imposes a duty of care to provide a safe workplace. Failure to ensure the safety of electrical equipment may result in the death or injury of yourself, your employees or others.
To discharge your duty of care you are required to reduce the risk of electrical shock as far as practicable. One method of achieving this is to ensure your tools, leads and appliances are tested for electrical fault on a regular basis.
The Invotec Test and Tag service includes:
- A visual inspection of leads to identify any obvious problems.
- Electrical tests are performed with pre-set tolerances, thus ensuring the integrity of the testing process.
- A computer generated log book and asset register is provided - if we do not do the test we cannot provide a tag.
- Compliance tags indicate test dates and review dates.
